David Christison

David Christison is well known as a former news director, sports presenter and senior producer for Channel Seven Perth and the Seven Network. He has impeccable contacts at all levels of federal, state and local governments.

Specific areas of strategic counsel require a broad range of skills, contacts and media knowledge. David’s experience includes providing lobbying and consultation in matters of planning, liquor licensing, government policy and contract resolution.

David also has broad experience with crisis management and has acted as a media counsellor and a media spokesman for domestic and international companies and sporting organisations in emergency matters, including reputation management in criminal cases, first defence for Halliburton in industrial relations matters in 2006 and representing the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in the aftermath of the Madrid terrorist bombings during an Olympic qualifying event in 2004 and protecting investors in the wake of the Bai Mare cyanide spill in Romania by Australian company Esmeralda Exploration.

David commentated for the Seven Network at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, covering men's and women's hockey – his fifth Olympic Games with Seven.

He also travelled to the Athens, Sydney, Atlanta and Barcelona Olympic Games commentating on a variety of sports including hockey and basketball. He was also a lead television commentator at the Manchester Commonwealth Games in 2002, the 2006 Melbourne Commonwealth Games and the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi.

At Seven he worked as a sports commentator, reporter, news producer, newsreader and news director. In addition to his television commitments David hosted The Breakfast Show on talk radio station 6PR from 1996 to 1999 and from 1982 until 1986 was the news director for Radio 6PM in Perth, and later, the Bond Media radio network.

He is a member of the FIH Marketing Committee and chair of the FIH Broadcast Task Force. In 2006 he was awarded the federation’s Diploma of Merit for services to the sport. David has also served as a member of the Board of Hockey WA (2008-2010) and has been a Director of the Western Australian Motor Industry Foundation (2007-2008).

In 2009-2010 he was asked to chair Future Success 2, a specialised committee convened by the Department of Sport and Recreation to provide a strategic direction for elite sport in Western Australia. David was previously a member of the Western Australian Ministerial Sport and Recreation Council (1996-2000) and also served on the Western Australian Education Department's Working Party on Physical Education in Schools (1998-1999), the state government’s Working Party on High Performance Sport (2001-2002) and the advisory panel of the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal (2002-2004).
